S3 Graphics, a division of Sonicblue, said Thursday that Tokyo-based Sony has chosen its Savage/IX mobile graphics accelerator for new U.S., European and Japanese models of Vaio notebooks. The Savage/IX, which has 8MB of integrated memory, is featured in XR and SR notebooks. It offers 3D graphics acceleration and digital video playback. Sonicblue is based in Santa Clara, Calif.
