Short Take: Solectron expands to Australia with acquisition

Solectron, one of the largest contract manufacturers in the electronics industry, announced an agreement to acquire Australian contract manufacturer Bluegum Group. Solectron said it will keep Bluegum's approximately 700 employees and will add approximately 317,000 square feet of manufacturing capacity in various locations throughout Australia. "We are pleased that this acquisition will bring Solectron into a new geography," said Ken Tsai, Solectron's senior vice president.
