Short Take: Slate to announce subscription details

Online magazine Slate is expected to announce details of its long-awaited subscription drive this week. Slate publisher Rogers Weed said in December that Slate would start charging a subscription fee for the online magazine, but neither the start date for the fee nor the price has been announced. Weed said that Slate readership has nearly doubled from 140,000 in November to 240,000 in January. He attributed the readership increase to distribution partnerships.
