Short Take: RioPort inks music download deal with Universal

Internet music service provider RioPort has struck a deal with Universal Music Group to provide digital music downloads using a "Bluematter" format, which is set for a test run this week. The tracks will be distributed to RioPort's Bolt music service. The San Jose, Calif.-based company allows e-tailers to sell music and audio files to consumers in a secure format. RioPort's distribution partners include MTV.com, VH1.com, SonicNet, iCast, gUrl and iTurf.
