Short Take: Register.com offers deal for domain registration

Register.com has announced it would not charge users to register domain names with the InterNIC to lure people to its advertising-supported site and Web-hosting services. Most companies charge a premium for registration services, although they are often waived when customers also sign on for Web hosting. Register.com will waive the charge either way. Those who register will still be charged the standard $100 for two years of domain name use by Network Solutions, which runs the InterNIC.
