Short Take: Portland, Oregon files to dismiss suit vs. AT&T

Attorneys for the city of Portland, Oregon, and surrounding Multnomah County filed a motion in U.S. District Court to dismiss their lawsuit with AT&T and Tele-Communications Incorporated, arguing that the companies' case is groundless. Oregon officials said that because their recommendations for "open access" to cable networks by competitors were never imposed--the transfer of TCI's franchise licenses to AT&T were instead denied--the companies have no legal case.
