Short Take: Pivotal reports $8.7 million first quarter

Front office software maker Pivotal has reported first-quarter revenue in fiscal 2000 of $8.7 million, up from $4.6 million in the first quarter of fiscal 1999. For the quarter, net loss was $686,000, or 4 cents per share, vs. net loss of $859,000, or 6 cents in the year-ago period. First-quarter earnings were in line with First Call consensus estimates. Pivotal said it signed 74 new customers, expanding its customer base to 621 for the quarter.
