Short Take: Pets.com's fishing for new sales

Pets.com announced today that it will sell live salt- and freshwater fish through its Web site beginning this fall. The company will not carry the fish in stock; instead, Pets.com's partner, which the representative declined to name, will ship the fish direct to Pets.com customers. Separately, Pets.com announced a marketing agreement with gay and lesbian community site PlanetOut. As part of the agreement, Pets.com will become the exclusive pet product provider in PlanetOut's shopping area.
