Short Take: PeopleSoft to develop IA-64 apps

Enterprise application maker PeopleSoft plans to develop software for Intel's IA-64 processor, code-named Merced. The processor is the first implementation of Intel's family of 64 bit Intel Architecture. PeopleSoft said its applications for IA-64 will provide interoperability with the existing applications as well as new enterprise applications and database products built for IA-64. PeopleSoft joins a host of other industry leading companies in announcing plans to develop Intel Merced-based systems.
