San Francisco-based PeoplePC has signed a deal to offer computers and Internet access to more than 250,000 workers at Vivendi Universal and Vivendi Environnement. The program, subsidized by Vivendi, will start in France, where employees will pay $2.72 (3 euros) per month over three years for the package. The deal takes advantage of a change in French tax law that takes effect Jan. 1. Under the new law, neither the company nor the workers will be taxed for the PCs.
