Short Take: PC Tel markets soft modems

PC-Tel announced that its 56-kbps modem chip will be available in sample quantities later in November and that it will start to appear in notebooks and desktops next year. Based around K56Flex technology, the PCT789 HSP modem chip offers 56-kbps data, fax, and voice capabilities in an integrated chip. It will sell for $30 in quantities of 10,000.
