Short Take: Palm releases two patches for memory glitch

Handheld computing leader Palm made available the second in a series of two software patches designed to address a faulty memory chip inside a small number of Palm IIIc, IIIxe and Vx devices. Palm encourages all customers of the three models to visit its Web site to run a software diagnostic test on their units and to install the patch if needed. The test takes about 30 minutes and the software patch, if needed, can be installed in less than an a minute. Customers of Palm IIIc and Vx handhelds who already downloaded the earlier patch can upgrade to the latest version in about two minutes.
