Pacific Bell Internet is refuting a published report that its email servers were down for four days this week. The California ISP suffered a slowdown in email retrieval Monday evening due to an unprecedented overload of spam, but the system was never down, said Ruben Cota, Pac Bell Internet's vice president of network operations. The ISP has doubled its mail gateway capacity in response, he said.
