Short Take: Pac Bell warns users of password hack

Pacific Bell warned its Internet access subscribers in California this weekend that a group of malicious hackers recently gained access to private password information. The company said some of its 300,000 subscribers were affected and it asked customers to change their passwords by Jan. 14 to protect their accounts. The company has so far seen no abuses as a result of the breach, according to a spokeswoman. Pacific Bell was one of several ISPs based in California hit by the computer hackers, according to the company.
