Short Take: Novell to introduce printing specifications

Novell will next month introduce a new specification for printing over the Internet to the Internet Engineering Task Force. The intent of the standard is to make it easy for users to send print requests across the Internet or intranets, instead of having to use a much more complex protocol, known as ISO 10175. The proposed standard, dubbed the Lightweight Document Printing Application, will be submitted with the support of industry heavyweights such as Hewlett-Packard, Canon, and IBM.
