Short Take: Novell slapped with class-action suit

A class-action suit has been filed against Novell on behalf of all persons who purchased the company's common stock during the period between November 1, 1996, and April 22, 1997. The complaint alleges that Novell induced distributors to accept millions of dollars of its products through a combination of steeply discounted prices, greatly extended payment terms, and secret side agreements whereby the distributors could return unsold products at a later time.
