Short Take: NorthPoint names president and COO

NorthPoint Communications has named Elizabeth Fetter as president and chief operating officer of the company. Formerly Fetter was vice president and general manager for US West's consumer services group, a $4.7 billion business. Fetter also has held several senior management positions at Pacific Bell. NorthPoint, a data-focused competitive local exchange carrier (CLEC), expects to offer high-speed digital subscriber lines in 28 metropolitan markets this year.
