Short Take: Nortel invests in Plaintree Systems

Northern Telecom has announced a $9 million equity investment in Plaintree Systems as part of a strategic relationship that will result in technology-sharing. Under the terms of the deal, Nortel has the option to license Plaintree technology. The two also will develop Nortel's data-switching products, which are targeted at the telecommunications carrier market.
