NextLevel Systems, which is changing its name back to General Instrument Corporation (GI), has acquired Fuba Communications Systems, a European manufacturer of high-quality cable television equipment based in Germany. FCS will be integrated with GI's European operations as a wholly owned subsidiary. The acquisition was made in order to bring a manufacturing base closer to GI's European and Middle Eastern customers. Financial terms of the deal were not disclosed.
