Newbridge Networks, which makes high-end WAN equipment for service providers, posted a second quarter profit in line with Wall Street expectations. Excluding one-time gains, the company earned $47.6 million, or 18 cents a share, compared with $58 million, or 23 cents a share, a year ago. Financial analysts expected the company to earn 18 cents a share for the quarter ended November 1, according to First Call. Quarterly revenue rose slightly to $456.8 million, from $432.2 million last year.
