Short Take: New Intel manager monitors PC health

Intel released a new version of its LANDesk Client Manager that can monitor and maintain the health of a PC or mobile computer using remote diagnostic technology. The new tool, now in version 3.1, is targeted at the plethora of OEM computer manufacturers that use Intel-based components in their systems, offering the potential to bundle management capabilities with large PC shipments. Functionality includes remote rebooting of a PC, real-time monitoring, hardware and software inventory, file transfers, and PC health alerts. More than 20 OEMs plan to ship systems with the client-side software, which will roll out in October.
