Short Take: Net telephony firm gives away calls to FCC

IDT Corporation is offering free PC-to-phone calls to U.S. residents who want to lobby the Federal Communications Commission regarding its pending proposal to Congress that is expected to address Net telephony. The company is encouraging users of its Net2Phone to bombard the FCC with calls opposing any plan that would classify Net telephony as a long distance service--and therefore subject it to new government fees.
