Short Take: Net pyramid victims to get refunds

Participants in a widespread Internet pyramid scheme by Fortuna Alliance will soon get up to $5.5 million in refunds, the Federal Trade Commission said. The FTC settled the case last February, but a federal court now has approved the final mailing of refund checks to 15,622 consumers worldwide. The agency accused Fortune of running an illegal multilevel marketing program, but under the settlement, the company didn't admit guilt.
