Online publisher LiveReads is offering a previously unpublished novella by Beat writer Jack Kerouac. Completed in 1945, "Orpheus Emerged," is based upon the friendships that Kerouac formed with writers such as Allen Ginsberg and William Burroughs. The novella is available for $3.95 on the LiveReads site and Barnes&Noble.com, which will offer the novella for one month. Kerouac, who died in 1969 at the age of 47, wrote novels including "On the Road" and "The Subterraneans."
