Microsoft has announced a new version of its Telephony API (TAPI) for Windows 95 and NT to make it easier to build client-server telephony applications. TAPI 2.1 provides a complete communications framework between TAPI servers and clients and also requires less programming than previous versions of the API. TAPI 2.1 is expected to ship in the second quarter of 1997.
