Short Take: Motorola, IBM PowerPC microprocessor updates

Motorola and IBM announced enhanced versions of the PowerPC 603e microprocessor, including a 24OMHz version that is the highest-speed microprocessor now available for portable and desktop computers. Umax Computer has already started shipping a new Mac clone, the SuperMac C600 Mac OS-compatible system, based on the 240 MHz PowerPC. Power Computing also announced plans to add new models to its PowerBase line that use the super-fast chip.
