Short Take: MindSpring plans upgrade to V.90 protocol

ISP MindSpring has begun upgrading its network to the V.90 protocol for 56 kbps-compatible dial-up modem connections. Some cities already are upgraded, and the ISP is aiming to have more than 80 percent of its customer base up to speed over the next 30 days, the firm said. The schedule for the rollout is posted on MindSpring's Web site. America Online deployed V.90 last month.
