Short Take: MindSpring picks up new ISP

MindSpring Enterprises said it had purchased the Internet service provider assets of San Francisco-based Institute for Global Communications, a nonprofit group that provides ISP services to various organizations. Between 5,000 and 10,000 subscribers will be transferred as part of the deal, the company said. Mindspring currently has about 1.2 million subscribers.
