Short Take: Microsoft unveils "Tahoe" name, final beta

Microsoft announced that it plans to name its "Tahoe" enterprise portal product "SharePoint Portal Server." It also released its first and only "release candidate," or near-final beta, of the product. The product is aimed at providing integration between Microsoft Office and Windows by adding functions such as document management, search, subscription management and "inline discussions" to document collaboration. Microsoft has said Tahoe will ship late this year.
