Microsoft has shipped version 1.0 of its Microsoft Commercial Internet
System (MCIS)--a family of Internet servers for commercial providers
formerly code-named Normandy--to Internet service providers,
telecommunications carriers, and cable network operators. Several companies
have already announced that they will use components of the MCIS servers on
their sites, including Lycos and TalkCity.
