Short Take: Microsoft settles piracy suit filed against Able

Microsoft has settled a copyright and trademark infringement lawsuit it filed in July against Able Computer Systems. Microsoft charged the computer system builder and software reseller with distributing counterfeit Microsoft products, following an investigation sparked by numerous complaints received at the software giant's antipiracy hotline. Able has agreed to pay Microsoft $50,000, and to direct its customers to Microsoft for possible replacement products. This is the first time Microsoft has agreed to replace counterfeit products as part of a settlement agreement.
