Microsoft has set the date for the arrival of its long-awaited Microsoft Office 97. Both the Standard Edition and Professional Edition are scheduled to ship in mid-January. The Standard version will cost new users $499; an upgrade for previous Office users will cost $209 and $249 for users of non-Microsoft suites or desktop applications. The Professional version will cost $599 for new users, $309 for version upgrades, and $349 for non-Microsoft upgrades. Microsoft Office 97's Small Business Edition will still be on hold until March.
