Meridian Data announced the availability of 24X CD-ROM drives for its subsystem and server products. The drives provide maximum sustained throughput of 3,600K/sec, compared to a throughput of 2,400K/sec for 16X drives, according to Meridian. Retail pricing for a 24X upgrade kit is $305; Meridian's CD Net Universal, a miniserver of seven 24X drives, goes for $4,520; a Meridian server with 14 24X drives costs $7,130.
