Short Take: Latin American bank to use IBM network technologies

Latin America's largest retail bank, Banco do Brasil, will invest in IBM network computing technologies as part of its (U.S.) $1.8 billion technology investment program. Banco do Brasil will use IBM's SET technology to ensure secure electronic transactions via Banco do Brasil Shopping, and also will base its Banco do Brasil Personal Banking programs on Java. The bank plans to train the 900 members of its IT department in Java.
