Short Take: JavaSoft announces Naming and Directory Interface

Sun Microsystems' JavaSoft division has announced the Java Naming and Directory Interface, a programming interface that allows developers to deliver Java applications that can access naming and directory servers from multiple vendors. The final specification for the interface will be released during the second quarter of 1997; a reference implementation will follow in the third quarter.
