Short Take: J.D. Edwards names top exec

Business software provider J.D. Edwards has appointed Jack Blount to vice president of technical development. Blount, who has been in the computer industry for 25 years, will be responsible for the company's technology direction, particularly in e-business and interoperability. Most recently, he was the founder and CEO of two start-up software companies. Blount was also with IBM in numerous technical and engineering positions and with Novell as an executive vice president.
