Short Take: IXC to begin trial of IP voice-over-cable modem

IXC Communications will start a six-month trial of a Internet Protocol telephony-over-cable modem in Austin, Texas, in May. The trial, aimed at delivering voice phone service via high-speed cable TV networks to remote office workers, will include Cisco Systems, ISP Channel, and the local franchise of Cablevision.
