Short Take: IXC, NorthPoint team on DSL

IXC Communications has begun selling NorthPoint Communications digital subscriber line (DSL) service through its retail business subsidiary Eclipse Telecommunications. IXC will offer symmetric DSL (SDSL), meaning upload speeds match download rates, ranging from 144 kilobits per second (kbps) to 1.5 megabits per second (mbps). IXC will offer SDSL in Los Angeles, San Diego, Austin, Texas and 12 additional cities later this year.
