Short Take: IXC, Montana Power unit swap fiber

IXC Communications and Touch America, the telecommunications subsidiary of Montana Power, have agreed to swap unlit fiber optic cables and conduit as part of a 25-year deal. Touch America will get 580 miles of fiber between Denver and Salt Lake City while IXC will acquire 1,020 miles being built between Denver and Dallas. An undisclosed sum of cash also was involved in the arrangement.
