Short Take: Intel to bring together high-tech execs

Intel will gather executives from the major PC and software companies for a two-day symposium next month in San Francisco to chart initiatives for standardizing the underlying hardware and software for e-commerce. Keynote speakers will include Intel chairman Andy Grove, Microsoft chairman Bill Gates, IBM vice chairman John Thompson and Hewlett-Packard CEO Carly Fiorina. The symposium begins Oct. 11.
