Short Take: Intel taps exec for Texas center

Dominant chip maker Intel announced that it has tapped Mark McDermott to head Intel's newly founded Texas Development Center, which will be located in Austin. McDermott's responsibilities will include product development for future Intel microprocessors. Before joining Intel, McDermott worked as director of Motorola's Somerset Design Center, in the Network and Computer Systems Group, which serves as the location for all PowerPC development for the IBM/Motorola joint venture.
