Short Take: Intel names head of development center

Intel tapped Mark McDermott as head of its new Texas development center, which will be located in Austin. McDermott, who holds more than a dozen patents, will be in charge of product development for future Intel architecture microprocessors, reporting to Albert Yu, senior vice president of the company's microprocessor products group. Prior to joining Intel, McDermott was director of Motorola's Somerset Design Center, responsible for PowerPC chip development in the IBM/Motorola joint venture.
