Short Take: Inktomi to announce acquisition

Inktomi, which develops Web caching and search technology, has issued a media advisory that it plans to announce an acquisition tomorrow. The San Mateo, California-based company has scheduled a press call for 8 a.m. ET. Mainly known for its search deals, Inktomi has increasingly tried focusing on its Web traffic and e-commerce servers. An Inktomi spokesman declined to comment.
