Short Take: Inktomi, Foundry team for caching scheme
Inktomi and gigabit start-up Foundry Networks announced a deal this week to incorporate technologies to provide a network-based caching scheme targeted at service provider systems. Foundry's ServerIron load-balancing system, combined with Inktomi's Traffic Server caching software, is intended to relieve over-burdened Web server farms by redirecting oft-made queries to caching servers. The combined system will be demonstrated next week at the ISPCon Fall '98 trade show next week in San Jose, California.
