The Internet Corporation for Assigned Names and Numbers (ICANN), a nonprofit appointed to oversee the Net's technical underpinnings, has named Dr. Paul Twomey as chairman of its governmental advisory committee. Chief executive officer of Australia's National Office for the Information Economy, Twomey will advise ICANN about how its policies correspond with various national laws and international agreements.
