Short Take: IBM exec resigns

IBM executive John Whiteside, considered a rising star at the company, has resigned to head ServiceNet, an electronic commerce venture owned by Andersen Consulting and BBN. Whiteside, who left the company last Friday, was general manager of IBM's Global Network. Dennie Welsh, senior vice president and group executive of IBM's Global Services unit will take over Whiteside's duties until a successor is named.
