Short Take: IBM, BellSouth in alliance

IBM and BellSouth announced a deal to provide Internet and intranet services in the southeastern United States. The deal will allow BellSouth to provide Net services to more than 70 percent of its customer base. The companies will work together to provide cutting-edge technologies, such as Asymmetrical Digital Subscriber Line. BellSouth also plans to use IBM's Global Network to extend its Net access services to 30 additional markets later this year.
