Short Take: HP's Agilent secures domain name

Agilent Technologies, the spinoff of Hewlett-Packard's test, measurement, medical, and electronic components group, has acquired the rights to the Agilent.com domain name from its previous owner, Agile Enterprises, the company said today. HP didn't try to purchase the Internet real estate before because it wanted to keep the new name secret for as long as possible, Agilent said. "We reached agreement with [Agile Enterprises] shortly after the name launch and have been working the past month to implement a smooth transition of Web sites for both companies," said Bill Hahn, senior vice president of Agilent's strategic programs.
