Short Take: HP, NEC, Hitachi join for easier repairs

Hewlett-Packard announced a technology sharing agreement with NEC and Hitachi that will allow for repairs to certain portions of the company's HP-UX brand of Unix without bringing down a server system. The collaboration will also yield "self healing" elements for the HP-UX platform. The new enahancements will be embedded as an option in versions of HP-UX starting in the fourth quarter of next year, said HP officials.
