Short Take: HP debuts net gear

Hewlett-Packard announced new switching models that tackle the hot area of local area network (LAN) traffic based on Internet Protocol (IP) and Novell IPX traffic. Due to ship in May, the 208T and 224T offer eight or 24 10-megabit Ethernet ports, respectively. A new 100-megabit 800T model with eight ports will also debut. The company also announced a new Fast Ethernet hub and new management software called the AdvanceStack Assistant that offers performance advice and comes free with all gear.
